Ingredients:

  • 2 whole trout, cleaned and gutted
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 lemon, thinly sliced
  • Fresh herbs (e.g., rosemary, thyme, or parsley)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • Optional: butter for basting

Serves: 2

Preparation Time: 10 minutes

Cooking Time: 15 minutes

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your grill, oven, or stovetop pan.
  2. Rinse the trout under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.
  3. Brush the trout with olive oil both inside and out.
  4. Season the inside of each trout with minced garlic, salt, and freshly ground black pepper. Stuff with lemon slices and fresh herbs.
  5. If using a grill or oven, you can also season the outside of the trout with salt and black pepper.
  6. If using a grill, place the trout directly on the grill grates and cook for about 7-8 minutes per side, or until the flesh flakes easily with a fork. Optionally, baste with melted butter for extra flavor.
  7. If using an oven, preheat to 400°F (200°C) and bake the trout on a lined baking sheet for 15-20 minutes or until the fish is cooked through.
  8. If using a stovetop pan, heat some oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Place the trout in the pan and cook for about 4-5 minutes per side.
  9. Serve the cooked trout hot, garnished with fresh herbs and more lemon slices.
