Ingredients
Cake
The art of baking a delicious Apple Bundt Cake begins with the selection of high-quality ingredients.
For this recipe, you will need the following essential components:
- Flour: 2 1/4 cups (285g) – Use a fine-textured all-purpose flour to ensure an even crumb structure.
- Sugar: 1 cup (200g) – Granulated sugar adds sweetness and tenderness, but feel free to adjust to your desired level of sweetness.
- Butter: 1/2 cup (115g) – Unsalted butter is ideal for its rich flavor and tender crumb properties.
- Eggs: 3 large eggs – These will provide moisture, richness, and structure to the cake.
- Milk: 1 cup (240ml) – Whole milk or a non-dairy alternative works well here; the acidity helps react with the baking soda.
- Vanilla Extract: 2 teaspoons – This will enhance the overall flavor profile and aroma of your cake.
- Salt: 1/4 teaspoon – A pinch of salt balances out sweetness and enhances flavors.
- Dried Cinnamon: 1 teaspoon – This adds warmth, depth, and a lovely aromatic quality to your Apple Bundt Cake.
- Grated Apples(2-3) – Use any combination of sweet and tart apples you prefer; core them before grating.
- Powdered Sugar: for dusting the finished cake, if desired
1 1/2 cups allpurpose flour
All-purpose flour serves as the base ingredient for structure and texture in baking. In the context of the Apple Bundt Cake recipe, 1 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour play a crucial role in holding the cake together.
The type of flour used can significantly impact the final product’s taste and texture. All-purpose flour is a versatile option that contains both hard and soft wheat, allowing it to produce a tender crumb while still providing structure.
When measuring out 1 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour for the Apple Bundt Cake recipe, make sure to use a digital kitchen scale or a dry measuring cup to ensure accuracy. Sift the flour into the mixing bowl before adding other ingredients to prevent lumps and promote even mixing.
The inclusion of all-purpose flour in the Apple Bundt Cake recipe contributes to its ability to retain moisture while still yielding a light and fluffy texture. The combination with sugar, eggs, butter, and apples creates a harmonious balance of flavors and textures that make this cake appealing to both the palate and the eyes.
In terms of substituting all-purpose flour in the Apple Bundt Cake recipe, it’s generally not recommended. However, if you only have bread flour or pastry flour available, you can use them as substitutes in a pinch. Keep in mind that these flours may alter the cake’s texture and flavor slightly.
1 tsp baking powder
The addition of _1 teaspoon_ of _baking powder_ plays a significant role in the overall structure and texture of the Apple Bundt Cake.
Baking powder is a leavening agent that helps to release carbon dioxide gas bubbles during the baking process, causing the cake to rise.
When incorporated into the batter, the _baking powder_ reacts with liquid ingredients like buttermilk or water and acidic components like _apple cider vinegar_ in the recipe to produce a light and fluffy texture.
The _baking powder_ also helps to balance the pH levels in the batter by releasing alkaline compounds that counteract the acidity caused by the use of citrus juice or other acidic ingredients in the cake’s flavor profile.
By including this single teaspoon of _baking powder_, bakers can ensure their Apple Bundt Cake will have a light, even texture and a delicate crumb.
This is particularly important when baking dense fruits like apples, as it helps to prevent them from overpowering the other ingredients in the recipe.

1 cup unsalted butter, softened
The first essential ingredient for our Apple Bundt Cake Recipe is one cup of unsalted butter that has been softened to perfection.
Unsalted butter, also known as sweet butter, is a type of butter that doesn’t contain added salt, allowing the natural sweetness and richness of the dairy to shine through in our baked goods.
To soften the butter, simply remove it from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before you plan on using it.
You can also speed up the process by microwaving it in 10-second increments until it reaches a softened state that’s easy to work with.
When choosing unsalted butter, make sure to select a high-quality product that comes from grass-fed cows or other sustainable sources for an even more delicious and nutritious outcome.
The softness of the butter is crucial in this recipe as it will help create a moist and tender crumb when combined with the other ingredients.
So, take your time and make sure to use the right amount and type of unsalted butter for the best results in our Apple Bundt Cake Recipe.
1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
The recipe for an Apple Bundt Cake requires a significant amount of granulated sugar, which serves as a primary sweetener and helps to bring out the flavors of the other ingredients. The specified amount of 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar indicates that this component is essential in achieving the desired level of sweetness and texture.
Granulated sugar, also known as white sugar or table sugar, is a refined sucrose derived from sugarcane or sugar beets. It is characterized by its fine crystal structure and pure white color. In baking, granulated sugar plays a crucial role in controlling the rate of yeast fermentation, regulating the texture of baked goods, and adding sweetness to recipes.
The inclusion of 1 3/4 cups of granulated sugar in this Apple Bundt Cake Recipe suggests that it will produce a rich, moist, and sweet cake. The large amount of sugar will also help to balance out the tartness from the apples, ensuring that the final product is well-balanced and delicious.
It’s worth noting that using 1 3/4 cups of granulated sugar might result in a slightly denser cake due to the increased sugar content. However, this can be mitigated by ensuring proper mixing and incorporating sufficient liquid ingredients to maintain the right consistency.
In conclusion, the use of 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar is an integral aspect of this Apple Bundt Cake Recipe. Its role in adding sweetness, texture, and balance to the final product cannot be overstated, making it a crucial ingredient for any baker looking to create a delightful dessert.
4 large eggs, at room temperature
For this scrumptious Apple Bundt Cake Recipe, we’ll start with a crucial ingredient that forms the foundation of our cake: eggs. We need 4 large eggs at room temperature for this recipe.
The role of eggs in baking is multifaceted – they serve as leavening agents, helping our cake rise and giving it structure. Eggs also provide moisture and richness to the cake, making it tender and soft. They act as emulsifiers, binding together fat and water-based ingredients smoothly, which is essential for achieving a stable batter.
Choosing eggs at room temperature ensures they mix more evenly with other ingredients, incorporating air more efficiently during mixing. This helps in creating a lighter and fluffier texture in our cake. If the eggs are cold from the refrigerator, it could lead to uneven mixing and potentially affect the final product’s structure.
Large eggs have more volume than extra-large or jumbo eggs, which is perfect for this recipe. They contain approximately 2 tablespoons of liquid, making them an essential component in our cake batter. Large eggs also help balance sweetness with richness, contributing to the overall flavor and texture of our Apple Bundt Cake.
When selecting large eggs for baking, it’s crucial to check their freshness by looking at the expiration date on the carton or checking their appearance – fresh eggs will have a more prominent air cell at the large end, while older eggs might show less air in that area. If you’re unsure about an egg’s freshness, it’s best to discard it and use a fresher one instead.
Now that we’ve covered the importance of eggs in our Apple Bundt Cake Recipe, let’s move on to combining them with other essential ingredients like butter, sugar, flour, and apples, which will help create an irresistible flavor profile for this delicious dessert.
Bullet Points Summary
- Eggs serve as leavening agents, adding structure and moisture to our cake.
- Choosing eggs at room temperature ensures they mix more evenly with other ingredients.
- Large eggs have the right balance of volume and liquid content for this recipe.
- Select fresh eggs with a prominent air cell to ensure the best results in your baking.
Pouring Batter
The success of an Apple Bundt Cake recipe lies not only in its delicious flavor but also in the quality and measurement of its ingredients. For this particular cake, you will need:
- Around 2 ¾ cups (315g) all-purpose flour: This serves as the base for our cake’s structure.
- 1 teaspoon baking powder: This is an essential ingredient that ensures your cake rises evenly during baking.
- 1 teaspoon salt: Adding a pinch of salt enhances the overall flavor of the cake.
- 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter, softened: The butter contributes to the tenderness and richness of the cake.
- 1 ¾ cups (450g) granulated sugar: Granulated sugar adds sweetness to balance out the tartness from the apples.
- 4 large eggs, at room temperature: Eggs serve multiple purposes in baking – they add moisture, richness, and leavening properties.
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract: Vanilla is known for its unique flavor that enhances the overall taste of baked goods.
- 3 cups (400g) diced apples (any variety you prefer): The star of our show! Apples bring natural sweetness, texture, and a hint of tartness to the cake.
- 1 cup (120g) chopped walnuts or pecans (optional): Adding nuts can enhance the texture and flavor of the cake.
For pouring the batter into the prepared Bundt pan:
Mix your dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, salt) in a bowl. It’s crucial to sift these dry components to remove any lumps and ensure they mix evenly with the wet ingredients.
In a separate large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy – about 3 minutes with an electric mixer or by hand using a wooden spoon.
Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract. Ensure each egg is fully incorporated before adding the next.
Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; this can lead to a dense cake.
Gently fold in your diced apples and nuts (if using) into the batter. It’s essential to handle these fragile components with care, so they don’t break down too much.
Finally, pour the prepared batter evenly into a greased Bundt pan. To ensure even distribution, you can tap the pan gently on the countertop or use an offset spatula to spread it out.
1 cup milk, at room temperature
The ingredients for this delightful Apple Bundt Cake Recipe are carefully selected to ensure that every bite is a taste sensation.
To start, we will need 1 cup of milk at room temperature. This means that the milk should be left out of the refrigerator for about 30 minutes to an hour before use, allowing it to reach a comfortable room temperature.
This type of milk is essential in providing moisture and tenderness to the cake, especially when combined with the sugar, butter, eggs, and vanilla extract. The acidity in the buttermilk will also help react with the baking soda and create a light and fluffy texture.
Milk can be replaced with other dairy or non-dairy alternatives, such as almond milk or soy milk, for those with dietary restrictions. However, it’s worth noting that these substitutes may change the flavor and texture of the cake slightly.
For this recipe, we recommend using whole milk or 2% for a richer flavor and creamier texture. Skim milk can be used as well, but keep in mind that it may make the cake slightly less moist.
Regardless of the type of milk chosen, ensure that it is at room temperature before adding it to the recipe. Cold milk will cause the butter to seize up and result in an unpleasant texture.
In addition to 1 cup of milk, the remaining ingredients for this Apple Bundt Cake Recipe include:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 cups diced apples (about 2-3 medium-sized apples)
These ingredients come together to create a moist and flavorful cake that’s perfect for any occasion. The combination of the crispy exterior, fluffy interior, and sweet apple filling is sure to impress your family and friends.
2 tsp vanilla extract
The ingredients for an Apple Bundt Cake recipe typically include a combination of common pantry staples and specialty items to create a moist, flavorful cake with a lovely texture. One ingredient that plays a crucial role in this process is vanilla extract.
For the Apple Bundt Cake recipe, 2 teaspoons (tsp) of vanilla extract are required. Vanilla extract is a concentrated flavoring made from the seed pods of the vanilla orchid and is commonly used to add depth and warmth to baked goods like cakes, cookies, and pastries.
The use of high-quality vanilla extract is essential in this recipe as it helps to balance out the sweetness of the sugar and other ingredients while also enhancing the overall flavor profile. Some popular brands of vanilla extract include pure vanilla extract, imitation vanilla extract, and natural vanilla extract.
When selecting a vanilla extract for your Apple Bundt Cake recipe, look for a product that is labeled as “pure” or “natural,” which indicates that it contains no artificial additives or preservatives. These types of extracts tend to have a more robust flavor profile compared to imitation vanilla extracts.
Main Benefits of Vanilla Extract in Baking
- Enhances Flavor: Vanilla extract adds a rich, warm, and sweet flavor to baked goods, making them more appealing to the senses.
- Balances Sweetness: By adding depth to sweet ingredients like sugar and honey, vanilla extract helps balance out the overall sweetness of the final product.
- Preserves Flavor: Vanilla extract contains antioxidants that help preserve the flavor and aroma of baked goods over time.
Types of Vanilla Extract

If you decide to skip the walnuts, rest assured that the cake will still turn out delicious and moist, thanks to the perfect balance of sugar, spices, and apple flavors. So go ahead, take advantage of the optionality and indulge in the delightful addition of walnuts for an unforgettable taste experience.
As you prepare this Apple Bundt Cake recipe, keep in mind that incorporating walnuts is merely a suggestion to elevate the dish further. The choice ultimately belongs to your personal preference and cooking style.

Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. The baking time may vary depending on your oven and the size of your cake.
Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then, transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Once the cake is cooled, you can glaze or dust it with powdered sugar as desired. Enjoy!
Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C). Grease a 12cup Bundt pan.
The first step in baking the perfect Apple Bundt Cake is to preheat the oven to 325°F (160°C). This temperature setting ensures that the cake will be baked evenly and at a gentle pace, allowing the flavors and textures to develop properly.
While the oven is warming up, it’s time to prepare the Bundt pan. Grease a 12-cup Bundt pan with butter or cooking spray, making sure to cover every inch of the pan. This will prevent the cake from sticking to the pan during baking and make it easier to remove once it’s done.

Mix cake ingredients according to the University of WisconsinMadison’s recommendations for mixing techniques.
To bake a delicious Apple Bundt Cake, it’s essential to mix cake ingredients according to established mixing techniques, such as those recommended by the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Here are the steps to follow for proper mixing:
- Creaming Process: For this recipe, we’ll start with creaming together the butter and sugar. This step involves beating the two ingredients until they become light and fluffy.
- Add Wet Ingredients: Next, add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Then, mix in the buttermilk or regular milk, apple cider vinegar, and vanilla extract.
- Combine Dry Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and ground cinnamon. Add these dry ingredients to the wet mixture and blend until just combined.
- Add Chopped Apples and Nuts (optional): If using chopped nuts or apples, gently fold them into the batter at this stage.
Here are some key mixing techniques to keep in mind:
- Scraping down the sides of the bowl to ensure all ingredients are well incorporated.
- Using a rubber spatula or wooden spoon to gently fold in ingredients, rather than over-mixing the batter.
When mixing cake ingredients, it’s crucial to avoid overmixing. Overmixing can lead to a dense and tough final product. Instead, mix just until the ingredients come together in a cohesive dough or batter.
By following these steps and techniques, you’ll be well on your way to baking a delicious Apple Bundt Cake that’s sure to impress!
Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth the top.
The next step in preparing the Apple Bundt Cake recipe involves pouring the cake batter into a prepared Bundt pan. To do this, carefully pour the entire contents of the mixing bowl containing the cake batter into the greased and floured Bundt pan.
It’s essential to pour the batter slowly and steadily, making sure not to spill any on the countertop or over the edges of the pan. This is particularly crucial if you’re using a non-stick or silicone Bundt pan, as excess batter can stick to the surface and make cleaning more challenging.
Once the batter has been poured into the pan, use an offset spatula or a rubber spatula to smooth out the top of the cake. This will help create a clean and even surface, allowing the cake to cook uniformly throughout.
To achieve a perfectly smooth surface, start at one end of the pan and gently spread the batter in a circular motion, working your way around the pan until you reach the starting point. Make sure to apply gentle pressure to avoid creating air pockets or unevenness in the batter.
As you smooth out the top, pay particular attention to the edges of the cake, making sure they are evenly coated with the batter and there are no bare spots. If necessary, use a spatula to gently tuck any excess batter into the corners of the pan.
After smoothing the top, give the Bundt pan a gentle tap on the countertop to ensure the batter is evenly distributed and there are no air pockets trapped beneath the surface.

Cool cake completely before glazing or dusting with powdered sugar, as recommended by the USDA.
When it comes to decorating a delicious apple bundt cake, one crucial step often gets overlooked: allowing the cake to cool completely before adding any glaze or powdered sugar.
The USDA recommends that cakes be cooled thoroughly before being glazed or dusted with powdered sugar to ensure an even and stable texture.
This is because the moisture in a freshly baked cake can cause the glaze or powdered sugar to become soggy and unevenly distributed, resulting in a less-than-desirable presentation.
By allowing your apple bundt cake to cool completely on a wire rack, you’ll ensure that it reaches an internal temperature of at least 150°F (65°C) – this is the minimum temperature required for the starchy carbohydrates to break down and the starches to gelatinize, making it easier to handle and decorate.
Additionally, cooling the cake helps prevent condensation from forming on its surface, which can lead to a cloudy or water-spotted appearance.
Once your apple bundt cake has cooled completely, you can proceed with applying your favorite glaze or dusting it with powdered sugar – be sure to follow any necessary guidelines for preparing and using these toppings to ensure optimal results.
Some popular options for glazing a cooled apple bundt cake include powdered sugar mixed with milk or water, honey syrup, or simple powdered sugar glazes infused with spices like cinnamon or nutmeg.
Top with chopped walnuts for added texture, if desired.
To take your Apple Bundt Cake to the next level, consider adding a crunchy and flavorful topping made from chopped walnuts.
The key benefits of topping your cake with chopped walnuts include:
- Adding texture and visual interest to your finished dessert
- Providing a delightful crunch that complements the tender crumb of the cake
- Enhancing the overall flavor profile of the apple and spice ingredients in the cake
- Making your baked good more visually appealing, perfect for serving at special occasions or events
When choosing walnuts to use as a topping, consider the following:
- Select a variety that is fresh and fragrant, with a rich nutty aroma
- Pick nuts that are free of blemishes or defects, ensuring they look appealing on top of your cake
- Consider using walnuts that have been toasted or roasted to enhance their flavor and texture
To prepare the chopped walnuts for topping:
- Roughly chop a handful of walnuts into small pieces, taking care not to over-chop them
- Spread the chopped nuts on a plate or tray and toast in a 350°F oven for 5-7 minutes, watching carefully to prevent burning
- Remove the nuts from the oven and let cool completely before sprinkling them over the top of your Apple Bundt Cake
The best part? Topping with chopped walnuts is a totally optional step, so feel free to skip it if you’re short on time or prefer not to add extra texture.
