Background and History

The Big Mac is an iconic burger introduced by McDonald’s in 1967 by franchisee Jim Delligatti. Its popularity quickly soared, becoming one of the most recognizable fast-food items worldwide. The Big Mac is renowned for its unique combination of flavors and ingredients, making it a favorite among burger enthusiasts.

Serves

  • 4 Big Mac Clone burgers

Time

  • Preparation Time: 15 minutes
  • Cooking Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 8 hamburger buns
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 cup finely diced onions
  • 8 slices American cheese
  • 16 dill pickle slices
  • 1/2 cup special sauce (mayonnaise, sweet pickle relish, yellow mustard, white vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Preheat the grill or skillet

Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat.

Shape the patties

Divide the ground beef into 8 equal portions and shape them into thin patties, roughly the same size as the hamburger buns. Season both sides with salt and pepper.

Cook the patties

Grill or cook the patties in the skillet for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until they are cooked to your desired level of doneness. During the last minute of cooking, add a slice of cheese on top of each patty to melt.

Toast the buns

While the patties are cooking, lightly toast the hamburger buns on the grill or in a toaster.

Assemble the burgers

On the bottom half of each bun, spread a tablespoon of special sauce. Layer shredded lettuce, diced onions, two pickle slices, a cheese-topped patty, another tablespoon of special sauce, and finally, the top half of the bun.

Serve

Serve your Big Mac Clones immediately with your favorite side dishes.
