Chicken Kiev, also known as “Kotlety po-Kyivsky,” is a classic Ukrainian dish with a fascinating history. It’s believed to have been created in the late 18th century and was popularized in Kiev, Ukraine, hence the name. This dish traditionally consists of a chicken breast filled with a mixture of garlic butter and herbs, then breaded and fried.   • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups breadcrumbs
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • Cooking spray


  • In a bowl, mix the minced garlic, softened butter, chopped parsley, salt, and pepper to create the garlic butter filling.
  • Cut a pocket into each chicken breast and stuff it with the garlic butter mixture.
  • Seal the chicken breasts with toothpicks.
  • Dip each chicken breast in the beaten eggs, then coat it with breadcrumbs.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  • Lightly spray the chicken breasts with cooking spray and place them in the air fryer basket.
  • Air fry for about 20 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through and golden brown, turning them halfway through.
  • Remove the toothpicks before serving.
