Background and History
Salmon patties are a versatile and delicious dish with roots in various culinary traditions. These patties are popular in many parts of the world, especially in coastal regions where salmon is plentiful. They can be traced back to early American and European cuisines, where fish cakes or patties were a practical way to use leftover fish and stretch ingredients. Dill sauce, with its fresh and slightly tangy flavor, is a classic accompaniment, adding a bright contrast to the rich, savory patties.
Ingredients and Useful Facts
Salmon patties are typically made with canned or fresh salmon, mixed with breadcrumbs, eggs, and seasonings. They are then pan-fried to a golden brown. The dill sauce usually combines yogurt or sour cream with fresh dill, lemon juice, and other seasonings. This dish is not only delicious but also packed with nutrients like omega-3 fatty acids, protein, and essential vitamins.
